Grilled seafood on charcoal at a Saigon night market

Night Markets in Ho Chi Minh City: 5 Streets That Feed Saigon After Dark

Where to eat after sunset, what each plate costs in 2026, which street closes at what hour, and how to get home safely.

Short answer

Most night food in Saigon peaks between 18:00 and 22:00. Ho Thi Ky in former District 10 is the most local, with dishes from 15,000 VND. Vinh Khanh in former District 4 is the seafood street and runs past midnight. Ben Thanh night market is the easiest first night.

The short answer

Saigon does not have one night market. It has a handful of streets that turn into open kitchens from the late afternoon. Each has its own hours, its own prices and its own crowd.

This guide covers five of them. Ho Thi Ky and Su Van Hanh sit in former District 10. Ben Thanh is in the old centre, Vinh Khanh in former District 4, and Ha Ton Quyen in former District 11.

A note on names. The city abolished its districts on 1 July 2025. Locals and Google Maps still use the old numbers, so this page says “former District 10” and means the place your driver means.

Every price and hour below comes from fact sheets checked in September 2026. Where two sources disagree on an hour, I give you both numbers rather than pick one quietly. Where a fact is missing, I say so.

Our guide saysClara Truong
I walk guests through a night market the same way every time. Cash in small notes, the bag across the body, and one full lap before buying anything.

Five streets at a glance

The table sets the five side by side. Hours appear as ranges where the sources differ. Prices are in Vietnamese dong and cover a single dish, not a full meal.

Two patterns stand out. The streets of former District 10 run an early evening shift and are quiet by 23:00. Vinh Khanh and Ha Ton Quyen are the two still serving after midnight. For the hours beyond that, see where to eat late in Saigon.

Ho Thi Ky, flowers and Khmer food

Ho Thi Ky is two things on one street in former District 10, now Vuon Lai ward. There is a flower market that never closes, and a food alley that wakes up in the afternoon.

The flower market runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Its wholesale peak falls between midnight and 03:00, when stems sell for 2,000 to 3,000 VND each.

When the food alley opens

The food alley is an afternoon and evening affair. Stalls start between 15:00 and 17:00 and wind down between 22:00 and 23:00. More than 100 stalls trade along it.

The two fact sheets disagree on the rush. One puts the busiest stretch at 17:00 to 22:00 or 23:00. The other says 19:00 to 22:00. Both cover 19:00 to 22:00, so that is the safe window.

What to eat and what it costs

The food is Vietnamese-Khmer. Most dishes cost 15,000 to 50,000 VND. That makes Ho Thi Ky one of the cheapest streets in this guide for a long grazing session.

Bun bo Hue runs 40,000 to 55,000 VND a bowl. Bun thit nuong costs 35,000 to 45,000. A lemongrass beef skewer is 15,000, and Cambodian che comes in at 15,000 to 25,000.

Nhat Quynh at 78 Ho Thi Ky sells banh trang tron. I have no price for that stall. Co Nam in former District 3 charges 10,000 to 20,000 VND for the same dish, which gives you a benchmark.

A good way to work the alley is to pick one soup, then graze. A bowl of bun bo Hue, two skewers and a che make a full dinner for well under 150,000 VND.

Ho Thi Ky is cash only. Break large notes before you arrive. A big note for a 15,000 skewer slows the stall down and holds up the queue behind you.

Then walk the flower side before you leave. Even outside the wholesale rush, stems at 2,000 to 3,000 VND make an easy gift for a hotel room or a host.

Ben Thanh night market

Ben Thanh has a second life after dark. From 18:00, vendors set up on Phan Boi Chau and Phan Chu Trinh streets. They trade until around 22:00, and later at weekends.

Since a lighting phase in November 2025, Ben Thanh Market itself is lit at night. The same phase lit Mong Bridge and the Thu Ngu flagpole.

The goods are the same as in the daytime, plus food. That means grilled seafood, bun rieu at around 50,000 VND and broken rice at around 50,000. Summer rolls cost 30,000 and che 20,000 to 35,000.

Prices and bargaining

Opening prices here run two to three times the local rate. Start your counter-offer at 40 to 50 percent of the first number, and move up slowly from there.

The fact sheets list souvenir shopping at Ben Thanh among the night traps for this reason. The advice is simple. Eat at Ben Thanh, and do your shopping at Saigon Square.

Getting there by metro

Metro Line 1 stops at Ben Thanh station, right beside the market. Single fares run 7,000 to 20,000 VND in cash, or 6,000 to 19,000 cashless. A one-day pass costs 40,000 and a three-day pass 90,000.

The 2026 timetable runs trains from 05:00 to 22:00 Monday to Thursday, and to 23:00 Friday to Sunday. That schedule was flagged for checking after 16 August 2026. Look at the board before you count on a late train.

A Michelin stall by the market

Xoi Ga Number One sits at 15 Nguyen Trung Truc, by Ben Thanh. It has been Michelin Selected from 2024 to 2026. Xoi bap costs 20,000 VND and xoi dui ga 40,000.

I have no opening hours for it, so do not build your night around it. If it is open when you pass, it is a cheap way to eat from a Michelin list.

Ben Thanh is the easiest of the five for a first night. It is central, it sits on the metro and the dishes are familiar. It is also where opening prices start highest. For the daytime market, read our Ben Thanh Market guide.

Vinh Khanh seafood street

Vinh Khanh, in the Khanh Hoi area of former District 4, is the city’s seafood street. It runs about one kilometre from Ben Van Don to Ton Dan, with nearly 90 eateries along the way.

Hours, where the sources disagree

One sheet says the street opens around 16:00 and closes around 01:00, with a peak from 18:00 to 23:00. The other says it is busy from 17:00 and open to about 02:00.

So expect last orders somewhere between 01:00 and 02:00. The second sheet adds that the street is best after 18:30. Arrive between 18:30 and 23:00 and you catch it at its peak on either account.

Oc Oanh, the Michelin name

Oc Oanh at 534 Vinh Khanh is the address most visitors come for. It is Michelin Selected for 2026. That is a different label from a Bib Gourmand, and the two are often confused.

Its hours are the least certain on this page. One source says 14:00 until 02:00 or 03:00. The other gives about 13:00 to midnight, while noting reports of 02:00 to 03:00. Plan on midnight and treat later as a bonus.

Oc Oanh has traded for about 20 years. Plates run 50,000 to 180,000 VND, and a full dinner comes to 200,000 to 400,000 per person.

What a seafood night costs

A plate of snails averages around 100,000 VND, within a range of 50,000 to 180,000. Grilled crab claws run 200,000 to 500,000. Beer costs 20,000 to 40,000. Bring cash.

Most people spend 200,000 to 400,000 VND each. That makes Vinh Khanh the priciest of the five streets, and the one night where you should count your cash before you sit down.

Oc means snails and shellfish. Order two or three plates for the table, then add one at a time. Prices run per plate, so a group can taste widely without the bill climbing fast.

Before and after in former District 4

Bun Bo Hue 14B, at 14B Duong 46, is the only Bib Gourmand bun bo Hue in the city. It runs from 06:30 to 20:30, so go early. A plain bowl is 50,000 VND, or 70,000 with cha.

For something sweet after the seafood, Hoa Hao at 117 Lo G Hoang Dieu sells banh flan from 10:00 to 23:00. A cup of banh flan costs 5,000 to 10,000 VND.

Hai Chi Em at 220 Nguyen Tat Thanh sells banh trang nuong, the snack known as “Vietnamese pizza”, for around 20,000 VND. Across the city it is an evening food, priced 10,000 to 30,000.

Late in the evening, listen for wooden sticks clacking in the alleys. That is hu tieu go, the cart noodle, sold until about 01:00 for 15,000 to 30,000 VND.

Ha Ton Quyen, dumpling street

Ha Ton Quyen in former District 11 is known as dumpling street. It suits a late crowd, because its two best-known shops keep serving past 01:00.

Ngoc Y at no. 187 opens from 11:00 to 01:00, with dishes at 30,000 to 60,000 VND. Thien Thien, in the alley at no. 191, runs from about 12:30 to 01:30 and charges 60,000 to 105,000.

The street works best at the end of a night rather than the start. Eat light at a market earlier, then come here when the District 10 stalls are packing up. That is my suggestion, not a rule.

I have no published peak for this street, and no detail on which dumplings each shop serves. Look at what the next table is eating, then point. It works on every street in this guide.

Su Van Hanh after work

Su Van Hanh in former District 10 is liveliest from 17:30 to 22:00. It is the local banh xeo strip, which makes it the place to try that dish where the neighbourhood eats it.

Bo Kho Ganh on Su Van Hanh holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I have no house number or hours for it, so check both before you set out.

Sup Cua Hanh at 549 Su Van Hanh sells crab soup from 06:15 to 22:30. A small bowl is 22,000 VND and a large is 44,000. It outlasts the rest of the street by about half an hour.

For dessert, coconut ice cream served in the shell runs 30,000 to 40,000 VND in 2026. Nguyen Huong at 029 Lo H Su Van Hanh sold it according to a 2018 source. I could not confirm it since.

Che Thai Y Phuong sits at 380 Nguyen Tri Phuong in former District 10. Che Thai costs 28,000 VND, and the three-colour che 25,000. No opening hours are on record.

Banh xeo in the centre

If banh xeo is your target, compare Su Van Hanh with Banh Xeo 46A at 46A Dinh Cong Trang, former District 1. That Bib Gourmand shop serves 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 21:00.

Its prices are disputed. Older listings say 25,000 to 50,000 VND. A January 2025 source says 110,000 for a regular and 180,000 for the special. Expect the higher figure and be pleased if you are wrong.

Other evening streets

Nguyen Thien Thuat and Ban Co

Nguyen Thien Thuat and the Ban Co area of former District 3 start with market alleys in the early morning. They sell hu tieu and com tam. In the afternoon, the evening stalls take over.

The bun rieu stall at no. 174 opens at 14:00. Banh cuon at 174/28 serves until 00:30, which makes it one of the later options outside the seafood street and the dumpling shops.

Co Giang

Co Giang in former District 1 is a quieter local strip. Its north-east end lights up in the evening with bo la lot, bun thit nuong and chao long.

Hoa at 91 Co Giang sells bo la lot for 20,000 to 30,000 VND. Chi Tuyen serves bun thit nuong for 60,000. Ba Ut has made chao long for more than 85 years, at around 35,000 a bowl or 65,000 a set.

Bui Vien

Bui Vien Walking Street in former District 1 is 652 metres long. Vehicles are banned on Saturday and Sunday from 19:00 to 02:00 only. On other nights, traffic shares the street.

Food stalls run to 02:00 or 03:00 at weekends, and the noise lasts until about 02:00. Street food starts from 50,000 VND, and beer costs 20,000 to 50,000 a glass.

Nguyen Hue Walking Street

Nguyen Hue has street-food carts in the evening, among live bands, K-pop dance crews and two musical fountains. It closes to all vehicles on Saturday and Sunday nights from 18:00 to 22:00.

The central promenade is always pedestrian, even when the side lanes carry traffic. City Hall stands at the end, with its new artistic lighting since late 2025. For the rest of the city after sunset, see our guide to Ho Chi Minh City at night.

Michelin labels on the night streets

The Michelin Guide Vietnam 2026 was announced on 4 June 2026. It lists 193 places in total, with 11 starred restaurants, 72 Bib Gourmand addresses and 110 Selected.

The labels mean different things. A Bib Gourmand marks good food at a moderate price. Selected is a separate listing. Oc Oanh is Selected, not Bib.

On the streets in this guide, the labels fall like this. Oc Oanh on Vinh Khanh is Selected. Bo Kho Ganh on Su Van Hanh is a Bib Gourmand. Xoi Ga Number One by Ben Thanh is Selected.

A label tells you a Michelin inspector ate there. It does not tell you the stall is open at 23:00. Check the hours on this page before you cross the city for a name. Our Michelin guide to Ho Chi Minh City covers the full list.

What closes at what hour?

Most street-food streets and markets wind down between 22:00 and 23:00. A few run much later. The timeline follows a single evening, from the first stall to the last bowl.

  1. 15:00 to 17:00. Ho Thi Ky food alley starts trading.

  14. 02:00. Vinh Khanh ends by the other account. Bui Vien noise stops.
  15. 02:00 to 03:00. Bui Vien weekend stalls close, and Oc Oanh by some reports.
  16. 03:00. Pho Viet Nam closes.

Open all night

Pho Ha, Pho Quynh and Lua Dai Viet are listed as open 24 hours. Pho Viet Nam serves until 03:00. Between them, a late flight does not mean going to bed hungry.

Hu Tieu Nam Vang Thanh Dat, at 122D Cach Mang Thang Tam in former District 3, is the uncertain one. One sheet lists it as 24 hours. The other gives 07:00 to 23:00, while noting the 24-hour claim.

So Thanh Dat is safe until 23:00 and possible after that. Bowls cost 55,000 to 115,000 VND.

Late, but not all night

Hai Ky Mi Gia, at 349-351 Nguyen Trai in former District 5, serves mi vit tiem, the Cholon braised duck noodle, until 23:00. It has traded since 1976. A bowl was around 130,000 VND in March 2025.

Pho Mien Ga Ky Dong at 14/5 Bis Ky Dong, former District 3, runs from 05:30 to 22:30. It is the safe late bowl of chicken pho, at 55,000 to 100,000 VND. Our best pho in Saigon guide covers the morning bowls.

Dat Thanh, at 277 Vo Van Tan in former District 3, has served bot chien since 1985. It opens from 14:00 to 23:00 and charges 20,000 to 40,000 VND.

Planning a night, two streets at a time

The hours suggest a natural order. Start at the streets that close early, and move to the late ones as the first group packs up. Three routes follow. They are suggestions built from the hours, not fixed tours.

The early-to-late route

Begin at Ho Thi Ky around 19:00, when both sources agree the alley is busy. Graze there for an hour. Walk the flower side before you leave.

Move on to Vinh Khanh before 23:00, while it is still at its peak. Order two plates of snails and a beer. If you are still hungry after midnight, Ha Ton Quyen serves until 01:00 or 01:30.

The central route

For a first night with no transport worries, start at Ben Thanh night market at 18:00. Eat there, then head to Nguyen Hue for the carts, the bands and the fountains.

On a weekend, Nguyen Hue is closed to vehicles from 18:00 to 22:00, which makes it an easy walk. Finish on the river at Bach Dang Wharf Park, which is free and has lit lotus paving.

The District 10 evening

Su Van Hanh peaks from 17:30 to 22:00, and Ho Thi Ky from 19:00 to 22:00 at the least. Eat banh xeo on Su Van Hanh early, then finish with Cambodian che at Ho Thi Ky.

This route keeps the whole night in one former district and under 150,000 VND a head. It ends by 23:00, which suits anyone with an early start.

If you would rather not plan the route yourself, our night tour does the planning for you.

What a night of street food costs

Most dishes in Saigon cost 25,000 to 80,000 VND. Famous shops and seafood start above 100,000. A full night of street food runs 180,000 to 350,000 per person, and a snail dinner 200,000 to 400,000.

Cash is the rule on the night streets. Ho Thi Ky and Vinh Khanh are cash only on the sheets I hold. Carry small notes, because the cheapest plates cost 15,000 VND.

Drinks add up slowly. Beer runs 20,000 to 40,000 VND on Vinh Khanh and 20,000 to 50,000 a glass on Bui Vien. Sugarcane juice costs 10,000 to 20,000, or 20,000 to 35,000 with kumquat or coconut.

How to pick a clean stall

The city is tightening checks on street food. It has around 14,300 street vendors, and its 2026 plan adds surprise inspections and a public blacklist of violators.

The inspections do not choose your stall for you. Four signs do the work. Look for high turnover, food cooked to order and served hot, covered ingredients, and money and food handled separately.

Skip anything pre-cooked and sitting out. The busiest hours on each street, listed above, are also the hours of highest turnover. That is one more reason to eat at the peak rather than at the edges.

For the dishes behind all these names, and the streets that sell them in daylight, read our Saigon street food guide.

Night safety

Motorbike drive-by snatching of phones and bags is the number one crime against tourists here. The hotspots are Bui Vien and the streets around Ben Thanh, two of the busiest night areas on this page.

Wear a cross-body bag on the side away from the road. Do not hold your phone at the kerb, and do not leave it on a street-facing cafe table.

After 23:00, stay on lit main avenues. Avoid unlit park benches and the stretches under bridges. This matters most when you leave Vinh Khanh or Ha Ton Quyen after midnight.

Getting home

Use Grab or Xanh SM, or the Vinasun and Mai Linh taxis. Rigged meters on street taxis can run three to five times the normal fare.

Unmetered cyclo and xe om rides around Ben Thanh and Notre-Dame after dark are on the trap list too. Use GrabBike instead, and the price is fixed before you get on.

One xe om trick is worth knowing. When a driver says “100”, the driver may mean 100 US dollars, not 100,000 dong. Settle the currency out loud, or book through the app.

Traps on the night streets

On Bui Vien, a hostess may invite you into a bar with no price list. The bill arrives at 300 to 600 US dollars, with bouncers at the door. Walk past any bar that cannot show you prices.

Laughing gas, sold as “funky balloons”, is banned nationwide. Police raided Bui Vien bars in July and August 2025, and the city repeated the ban in March 2026.

Sellers face fines of 20 to 50 million VND, and users can be fined too. Crowds on Bui Vien have been thinner after 23:00 since the raids.

On Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi, watch for the coconut-yoke and shoe-shine “gifts”. Each is followed by a demand for 10 to 20 US dollars. A firm no before anything is handed over saves the argument.

Questions people ask

What time do night markets in Ho Chi Minh City close?

Most wind down between 22:00 and 23:00. Ben Thanh night market finishes around 22:00, later at weekends. Vinh Khanh runs to 01:00 or 02:00, depending on the source, and Bui Vien’s weekend stalls to 02:00 or 03:00.

Which night market is best for a first visit?

Ben Thanh, for ease. It starts at 18:00, sits beside the metro station and sells familiar dishes. For a more local evening, go to Ho Thi Ky between 19:00 and 22:00.

How much cash should I bring for a night of street food?

Plan on 180,000 to 350,000 VND per person for a full night. Add more for Vinh Khanh, where seafood dinners run 200,000 to 400,000. Bring small notes, since the night streets work in cash.

Are Saigon’s night markets safe after dark?

The main risk is phone and bag snatching from motorbikes, especially around Ben Thanh and Bui Vien. After 23:00, keep to lit main avenues and book rides through Grab, Xanh SM, Vinasun or Mai Linh.
