What the Michelin Guide lists in Ho Chi Minh City
One guide covers three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Its 2026 selection was unveiled on 4 June 2026 in Hanoi. It is the fourth edition.
That is the full city list as the guide publishes it, checked page by page on 30 September 2026. Nationwide, the 2026 edition counts 193 places: 11 stars, 72 Bib Gourmand, 110 Selected and 3 Green Stars.
Each distinction answers a different question. Here is what they mean when you are the one paying.
| Distinction | Guide's own label | In Ho Chi Minh City | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Star | High quality cooking | 6 places | Book ahead, plan a full evening |
| Bib Gourmand | Good quality, good value cooking | 25 places | Mostly walk-in, mostly cheap |
| Selected | MICHELIN Selected | 48 places | Anything from a sticky-rice stall to a 73rd-floor dining room |
| Green Star | MICHELIN Green Star | Tales by Chapter, new in 2026 | A vegetarian restaurant, also listed as Selected |
The guide also gives every address a price band, in four steps: On a budget, A moderate spend, Special occasion and Spare no expense. It publishes no menu prices, so we quote the bands as they are.
The six starred restaurants
All six hold One Star, awarded 2026. None has two or three. Five kept their star this year. Upstairs is the city's only new one.
| Restaurant | Address (guide) | Ward (old district) | Cuisine | Price band |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Akuna | 9F, Le Méridien Hotel, 3C Ton Duc Thang | Saigon (District 1) | Innovative | Spare no expense |
| Ănăn Saigon | 89 Ton That Dam | Saigon (District 1) | Vietnamese Contemporary | A moderate spend |
| Long Trieu | 4F, The Reverie Saigon, 22-36 Nguyen Hue | Saigon (District 1) | Cantonese | Spare no expense |
| Coco Dining | 143 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia | Xuan Hoa (District 3) | Innovative | Special occasion |
| CieL | 50 6/3 Street | An Khanh (District 2) | Innovative | Spare no expense |
| Upstairs (new 2026) | 36 Nguyen Ba Huan | An Khanh (District 2) | Vietnamese Contemporary | Spare no expense |
Three sit in Saigon ward, the core of old District 1. Two are across the river in An Khanh ward, which includes Thao Dien. If you choose a hotel partly for dinner, our where to stay guide compares those two areas.
Ănăn Saigon is the only starred address in the guide's second band, A moderate spend. Four of the other five are in the top band. It also shares Ton That Dam Street with a Bib Gourmand, Tiệm Cơm Thố Chuyên Ký at number 67.
One detail for Thao Dien: Upstairs and Little Bear, a Selected address, carry the same street number on their guide pages, 36 Nguyen Ba Huan.
All 25 Bib Gourmand in Ho Chi Minh City, by area
This is where the city's food shows best. 19 of the 25 Bibs are in the guide's cheapest band. Seven are pho shops. Our Saigon street food guide explains the dishes behind the names.

Selected places the guide singled out in 2026
- Tales by Chapter, Tan Dinh ward (D1): new to the guide and the country's newest Green Star. A member of its team received the Service Award.
- NÔM, Tan Dinh ward (D1): new, and its chef won the Opening of the Year Award, created for the 2026 edition.
- The Monkey Gallery Dining, Saigon ward (D1): its chef received the Young Chef Award.
- Apero and Sóno, An Khanh ward (D2): both new Selected entries.
- Ốc Oanh, 534 Vinh Khanh, Khanh Hoi ward (D4): the snail house on the seafood street, A moderate spend.
If you eat plant-based, four addresses in the list are vegetarian: Chay Garden and Hum Garden (Bib), Du Yên and Tales by Chapter (Selected).
How to eat at these addresses
The two ends of the list work in opposite ways. Starred and Special occasion rooms want a booking. Pho shops and stalls want you early and hungry.
The guide's Ho Chi Minh City pages show a Reserve a table button on some restaurants. Where it is missing, book through the restaurant directly. For stalls, there is nothing to book.
A Michelin day, the way we would eat it
- 1Before 10 AM
Pho first
Phở Minh, in the alley at 63/6 Pasteur, costs about 60,000 VND (about $2.30) a bowl and can sell out by 10 AM. Phở Lệ in An Dong ward charges 80,000 to 100,000 VND (about $3.10 to $3.90).
- 2Midday
Broken rice in Phu Nhuan
Cơm Tấm Ba Ghiền, 84 Dang Van Ngu, opens 7 AM to 10 PM. Plates run 88,000 to 150,000 VND (about $3.40 to $5.80).
- 3Afternoon
A snack near Ben Thanh
Xôi Gà Number One, 15 Nguyen Trung Truc: sticky rice with corn 20,000 VND, with chicken thigh 40,000 VND (about $0.80 and $1.50).
- 4Evening

These prices come from our September 2026 research, not from the guide. Stalls change prices without notice, so check on the day. Bring cash in small notes for the cheap addresses. Our travel tips cover cash, cards and apps.
How our tours cross these addresses
Our Michelin Food Tour is built around the guide's Ho Chi Minh City addresses. It runs in the evening, from 5:30 PM. Your guide drives, you ride behind her, one guest per bike. Ask us on WhatsApp which stops are on the current route before you book.
Getting to 79 addresses spread over 18 wards is the hard part. Pho is a morning dish, and the Bibs are scattered from Tan Binh to District 5. On a bike, the city shrinks.
Worth it for
- You want several Michelin addresses in one evening
- You would rather not negotiate traffic and parking
- You want someone to order the right dish at a stall with no English menu
Skip it if
- You want a full tasting menu at one starred restaurant: book that table yourself
- You prefer a slow walk around one neighbourhood
Two other rides cross the same streets. The Street Food Tour costs $57, starts at 5:30 PM and covers 5 districts and 10+ dishes, Michelin or not. The Vegan Food Tour suits plant-based eaters. To compare all of them with other operators, see our best food tours guide.
Questions we get on the bike
Six restaurants hold One Star, awarded 2026: Akuna, Ănăn Saigon, CieL, Coco Dining, Long Trieu and Upstairs. None holds two or three stars.
The guide labels a star "high quality cooking" and a Bib "good quality, good value cooking". Here, 19 of the 25 Bibs are in its cheapest price band.
For starred and Special occasion restaurants, yes. Pho shops and stalls take no bookings: go early, since some sell out by mid-morning.
Yes. A GrabBike from District 1 to District 3 costs about 18,000 to 25,000 VND. Or ride with us on the Michelin Food Tour, with a guide who drives.
30 addresses sit in the guide's On a budget band: 19 Bibs and 11 Selected. Xôi Gà Number One starts at 20,000 VND (about $0.80).
Upstairs gained a star. Five Bibs joined, including La Lola and Bún Riêu Yến. Five Selected joined, among them NÔM and Tales by Chapter, the new Green Star.
